Department Chairs--The Early Years

                       (1914-2006)

An Alpha Omega Alpha member, Dr. Campbell was the founding chair of the Department of Radiology of Charles R. Drew Postgraduate Medical School, after having spent a long career in Ohio. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1937) who was passionate about research and brought with him an international reputation in the field. In 1980, his appointment as Associate Dean for Research (1980-1983) came as a dual role as he continued in his leadership position in Radiology. In 1990, the Association of University Radiologists presented Dr. Campbell with the Gold Medal Award, the organization’s highest honor.
