Using AI for Your Research

AI chatbots—like ChatGPT, Bing Copilot, and Google Gemini—are everywhere online. They can be useful to help you do research and find information faster and easier.

📚 The CDU library team has been evaluating different AI tools and recommends you check out these select tools (free). You’ll have to decide what is best for you:

  • ChatGPT/GPT-4: Great for quickly reading and summarizing research papers. It can help you write better and understand key ideas in articles.
  • Scite.ai: Helps you see which sources are trustworthy by analyzing how often they’re cited and what others say about them.
  • Perplexity: A search tool and chatbot combined—it finds answers and customizes your research experience.
  • Scispace: A powerful research assistant with extra features like paper summarizing, organizing tools (Zotero, Chrome extension), and personalization.

⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind

  • These AI tools only pull info from public sources—they can’t access paid or subscription-only databases.
  • Sometimes the answers they give might be wrong or confusing, so it’s important to double-check the facts.
  • AI can help, but it doesn’t replace your own thinking and research skills.
