Why does my CDU account password not work?
- Your account might have expired. It is university policy that all accounts must change passwords at least every six months. If you have not logged into your account in at least six months, then your password is no longer valid and you will need assistance from the CDU Library
- Your account is locked out. When you enter the incorrect password for your account three times, then a security feature automatically triggers an account lockdown because it is assumed that someone other than you is trying to steal your password.
- You may have forgotten your password. Perhaps you rarely log in to check your emails and did not write down your account information. Without the correct password your credentials cannot be verified--thus you may not log on to your account.
- You have an academic hold and the Registration Office has placed your account on lockdown.
- You are a former staff member, but Human Resources has disabled or removed your account when your employment ceased.
How do I fix my CDU account?
Why do I have all these accounts and what are they for?
Students have several accounts and they are all for specific needs.
- Email is used for communication and research opportunities.
- MYCDU is used for registration and checking your schedules.
- CDU WiFi access is provided by verifying your CDU username and password.
- Blackboard is a distance education web-based application that allows remote classroom participation and labs.
Note: Email, MYCDU, CDU Portal, and WiFi are the same username and password. Blackboard is a separate system and has a separate password.

Why do I need to know my CDU account?
There are several reasons why you need to know your CDU account.
- Email is a primary communication method used by students and staff. Your CDU account is listed in our campus directory, so it is easy for any student or staff to find one another by searching the CDU address book.
- CDU does not have access to everyone's personal emails, so it is logistically easier to use universal CDU emails for communication. This is of particular importance when there is a special event or emergency that needs to be broadcast to all CDU accounts.
- If you are a student, then your instructor is going to create a email list only for CDU accounts for the main class list. Your instructor may assign group work or other activities and notify the class by email only.
- If you are a student or staff and need to use the campus WI-FI, you must first verify your CDU credentials to join the CDU network.
- Students that need to perform research from off-campus must log on to the EZ proxy login page to verify their CDU credentials. Once your account is verified, you can then research CDU resources as if your were on campus.
- If you are a staff member, certain Human Resource documents or legal information will only be sent to your CDU account. Your direct supervisor may also send important documents only to your CDU account. Not knowing your CDU account can therefore interrupt common work-related processes.
